Ways I Could Use Social Media Better

  1. Devote a small block of time to each network (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) each week.
  2. Have a stated goal for each network, and stick to that goal.
  3. Create actionable steps for each network’s stated goal.
  4. Drop folks from networks who don’t contribute to the goal. Sorry, Luda.
  5. Make use of third party applications to help me focus.
  6. Drop networks I know I’m not engaging with (Google+, Instagram)
  7. Actively add value to the networks I belong to. Not just likes, content, links, etc.
  8. Find ways to create value that might not exist otherwise for others through my existing connections.
  9. Actively grow my network according to the stated goals.
  10. Always post cats on Caturday.

Things to Do With Your Old Smartphone

  1. Donate it to Hopeline, an organization that provides cell phones to victims of domestic violence.
  2. Use it as a Universal Remote, tying in with your Apple TV or CPU-driven entertainment system. I once used Unified Remote.
  3. Save it for the inevitable night you drink too much boxed wine and drop your new one in the toilet.
  4. Load it with kid-friendly apps and games and use it as a digital babysitter for your local scalawags, young cousins, and eventual spawn.
  5. Repurpose it as an extremely high-functioning alarm clock or digital photo frame.
  6. Keep it in your glove box (fully charged and turned off) in case of emergencies.
  7. Sell it on eBay
  8. Trade it for something truly bizarre on your local Craigslist. NB: Adding “interesting trades considered” will lead you down a strange path.
  9. Use it to donate processing power to World Community Grid, which helps pursue a number of scientific goals, like mapping genetic cancer markers. If you want, you can even exchange that donated time for XRP.
  10. Leave it in a drawer for six months, then throw it away.

Ways to Make Money on the Crypto Currency Boom Without Buying Crypto Currencies

  1. Start trading pools, undercut existing fees, promote.
  2. Create, promote, and sell altcoin lifestyle items (shirts, clever USB keys, etc)
  3. Create easy to use mining software, sell relatively cheaply.
  4. Create educational products for those interested but intimidated by mining.
  5. Combine #3 & #4 above.
  6. Create a Yelp-type user-review site for mining pools.
  7. Offer secure escrow services for altcoins.
  8. Create a collateral & loan system that accepts altcoins in exchange for short term access to liquid capital. Charge a premium.
  9. Start a series of Enterprise-targeted workshops, “Understanding Altcoins.”
  10. Create a clearinghouse where organizations with excess hash power can rent their server time to interested miners.
  11. Create a small-time lobbying organization to draw political attention to the growth of altcoins.
